ABS disclosed today that ABS-CBN Convergence and Globe are exploring New Product Synergies in connection with their network-sharing agreement. The partnership was consummated last 2013 for a five-year network-sharing agreement.
The said agreement aims to deliver content and telecommunications services on mobile devices through the company’s mobile brand.
The partners are considering product synergies like bundling of ABS-CBN TV Plus boxes with Globe’s Globe at Home prepaid WiFi. They would also like to incorporate ABS-CBN TV Plus’ Kapamilya Box Office (KBO) and iWant TV to become over-the-top services to all Globe subscribers.
These product offerings are already available in the market.
All ABS-CBN Mobile prepaid, postpaid, and Sky Mobi subscribers will also continue to use and enjoy text, call, and data services until the final date approved by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
For the first quarter of the year, the company was able to generate revenues totaling PHP 9.0 billion from advertising and consumer sales. However, this figure is PHP 566 million lower versus last year, 5.9 percent lower.
Advertising revenues were lower this quarter by PHP 495 million, which was mainly attributable to fewer ads placements. Consumer sales also took a hit as theatrical receipts from Global and ABS-CBN Films declined. Sky Cable also saw a slowdown in revenues.
