To expand its global presence, wireless company Globe Telecom Inc. has introduced 5G services in 11 additional countries and territories.
According to a company advisory, Globe successfully implemented 5G roaming in Austria and Malaysia through partnerships with T-Mobile and Digi Telecommunications, respectively.
Similarly, Globe collaborated with CTM, AT&T, and Wind Tre to enable its 5G capabilities in Macau, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and Vatican City, respectively.
Additionally, Globe established a deal with EE to make its 5G services accessible in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The company further expanded its reach by partnering with MegaFon for Russia and working with Docomo Pacific to cover the Northern Mariana Islands.
To enhance its 5G roaming in Europe, Globe forged fresh partnerships with telecommunications providers in Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, and Switzerland. These collaborations resulted in improved roaming quality and speed.
Meanwhile, Globe Telecom (GLO) closed on June 8, 2023 at P1,720 per share, unchanged for three consecutive trading days. Support is near P1,700 as a precursor to P1,470. Resistance is at P1,870.
Moreover, Globe announced that travelers from Egypt, Isle of Man, Mexico, Romania, and Sri Lanka could access its 5G services during visits to the Philippines.
Coco Domingo, Globe’s vice president for postpaid and international business, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s ability to provide 5G roaming in 67 countries and territories worldwide.
Domingo emphasized Globe’s commitment to enhancing the telecommunications experience for Filipinos traveling abroad, particularly as their confidence in travel continues to grow.

He highlighted the affordability and accessibility of Globe data roaming promos through the GlobeOne app, eliminating the need for subscribers to switch SIM cards or carry additional devices.
With 5G offering faster speeds and lower latency compared to 4G, customers can enjoy uninterrupted gaming, video streaming, and online browsing experiences.
In a strategic move to optimize existing assets and expand its user base, Globe has reduced its capital expenditures budget for this year to $1.3 billion from the previous record of $1.9 billion in 2022.
