Alliance Global Group Incorporated is the publicly listed conglomerate of property tycoon Andrew Tan.
Its business ventures consist of Megaworld Corporation for real estate, Golden Arches Development Corporation for fast food restaurants under the McDonald’s brand, and Emperador Incorporated for liquor.
Furthermore, infrastructure firm Infracorp Development Incorporation and gaming, entertainment, and hotels venture Travellers International Hotel Group operate with Alliance Global Group as their parent organization.
The Tan-led companies have expressed their commitment to engaging in environmentally friendly practices.
According to the news posted online by The Manila Times, the oldest English-language newspaper in the Philippines, the firms gathered together for the first time to affirm their dedication to sustainability recently.
The one-day sustainability conference called “SustainAGility: The Alliance Global Group Conference on Sustainability” was conducted at the Hilton Manila located at Newport City in Pasay City.
The event featured the Alliance Global Group firms committing to generate at least five million indirect and direct employments by 2030 as a component of its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG).
In line with this development, the companies have rolled out various activities and programs to back the goals.
Emperador targets to carry on using technologies that reduce carbon emission and save water.
Based on the news posted online by The Philippine Star, an English-language print and digital newspaper in the Philippines, the liquor firm intends to employ renewable energy, specifically solar and biomass, for their distilleries and vineyards in the Philippines, Spain, and Mexico.
Furthermore, it plans to utilize water conservation techniques for irrigation in its Mexican and Spanish grape plantations.
Meanwhile, Golden Arches Development Corporation has begun using ecobricks, reusable packaging, and solar rooftops in some of its branches.
Moreover, it has engaged in a reinforced waste segregation system.
Other Alliance Global Group firms like Travellers International and Megaworld, along with its subsidiaries Suntrust Properties Incorporated, Empire East Land Holdings Incorporated, and Global-Estate Resorts Incorporated, have pledged to create roughly three million direct and indirect employment opportunities for local professionals nationwide.
Alliance Global Group has announced that it is in its desire to help in the achievement of the UN SDG, and aims to achieve this target within the next ten years.
Affirming the company’s commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030, chief executive officer Kevin Tan said that, as a conglomerate, they must begin to become more responsible and conscious for the long-term economic, social, and environmental effects of their businesses.
Their decisions as responsible corporate citizens should not only be driven by what is lucrative and pleasant anymore, but also by what is correct, he remarked.
The collective strength of Alliance Global Group as a large corporate group surely provides them the capability to make their positive initiatives happen, Tan said.
